Deb over at DebnBob.com posted a great post last week called “Five Parenting Issues That Drive Me Crazy“. I couldn’t agree more with her post…

Here is a summary of the post:

  1. Parents are responsible for mentoring their kids, not the schools
  2. Kids need to be taught to respect others
  3. Violence is a no-no…Kid’s should be taught to be gentle and respectful
  4. Kid’s need to be taught and shown that they are unique and they should be themselves
  5. Children, youth, and adults all need boundaries

On the flip side, you have to let your kids be kids. I don’t expect my two year old to be prim and proper, and I’m not interested in breaking his spirit sufficiently so he tows that line at a verbal cue from me. People who frown at you when you’re out and your two year old is being a two year old need to remove stick from anterior and relax.
