How To Afford Health Insurance

Many Americans find it difficult to afford health insurance for their families. Since the United States does not have a socialized medical system (whether that is good or bad, we’ll not discuss in this article) each person is responsible for their own health insurance. Here are a few things that you can do to help you afford health insurance for you and your family.
1 - Shop around. Decide what coverage you need. Then get Medical Insurance Quotes from a variety of companies - Insurance Rates can vary a bit from company to company.
2 - Partially self-insure. Partial self insurance means that you insure yourself for smaller expeneses and only use your medical coverage for large expenses. In other words, you start a savings account that you contribute to each month - these savings are used for small to medium sized medical expenses. You then set the deductible on your insurance plan as high as you can (based on the money in your savings account), which makes your rates lower.
3 - Get benefits. Does your employer offer insurance benefits? If not, would they consider it? Could you get a new job with better benefits?
There are many ways to save on health insurance - if you do your research and plan well, you may find that affording insurance is easier than you thought.

See, this is the sort of thing more people need to be aware of. In my view, a lot of the problems with the US medical system would be solved if people were better informed of the options they already have - whether or not socialized medicine would be necessary, which is a completely different argument.
