Perfect ‘TV Link Bait’? How marketers proclaimed Diet Pepsi as ‘best for the health’ over fruit juice?

If that TV show were a blog, that segment was a perfect link bait. A guest expert from Good Housekeeping magazine, claimed that fruit juice is bad for you because it has so many calories. The self-proclaimed expert explicitly talked about orange juice and apple juice and said taking fruit juice is unhealthy. It was a classic maneuver of lambasting a healthy juice drink and then reintroduced the glorified soda as the best option for the health-conscious. They then recommended a lineup of products which included Diet Pepsi which to me is just pure 100% marketing ploy and gimmickry. It was a classic TV link bait and it surely caught some attention.

Which one would you choose? Fruit Juice or Diet Pepsi?

If we’re talking pure orange or apple juice then Pepsi’s full of crap.
Where in the heck did Good Housekeeping come up with this ‘expert’? I don’t happen to have a can of diet Pepsi nearby but I do have a Coke. I suppose that these two drinks can’t be that far off from each other regarding their ingredients. Let’s see:
I don’t believe that either an apple or orange have - high fructose corn syrup, caramel color, phosphoric acid, potassium citrate, potassium benzoate nor caffeine.
And the bit about calories. Bah.
Shame on Pepsi for trying to trick people into drinking their sludge vs. have a wholesome, no adulterated juice product.
