If you’re looking for a healthy fruit, you need not look any further than the cranberry…
Besides being loaded with the goodness of vitamin A, vitamin C, potassium and fiber, Cranberries also contain Hippuric acid, which bestows the body with antibacterial benefits and bioflavonoids (plant pigments that help repair molecules that are damaged due to depletion of oxygen from the body). Anthocynin, one of the bioflavonoids present in cranberries helps in the development of visual purple, a pigment that is instrumental in helping the eyes differentiate colors. Plus, Anthocynin also helps improve your night vision.
Cranberry juice may play a significant role in reducing the risk of cancer, gum disease and plaque, heart disease and ulcers and also in preventing urinary tract infections and the formation of kidney stones.
In fact, some consider Cranberry juice to be the best natural remedy to fight bladder infections. According to one study, women who drink cranberry juice lower their risk of bladder infection by an astounding 42%. Cranberry juice apparently prevents E. coli bacteria from adhering to the lining of the urethra and bladder, thus inhibiting the development of new bacteria in the urinary tract. Bacteria that would have typically formed colonies in the urinary tract get flushed out with the urine.
Cranberry juice offers nutritional health benefits for individuals of all ages. For children it is great as a refreshment while at the same time providing their daily requirements of nutrients and vitamins and helping prevent periodontal and gum diseases as well as urinary tract infections. Cranberry juice may be effective in preventing the growth of peptic ulcers, which is very common among the elderly.
The health benefits of cranberries are exciting and certainly suggest that you might want to drink more pure, natural cranberry juice!
