In the strange paradox of our times, the more gadgets and machines we have to make life easier, the less time we have to stay healthy. Though most people know the theory behind leading a healthier lifestyle, putting it in practice can be a daunting thought. The key is to start adding healthy habits to your lifestyle.

Here are 5 easy healthy lifestyle habits you can start today:

Get Physical

It does not matter what you do, just do it and start a habit of being active. If you’re too tired to hit the gym after a long day at work-don’t. Starting today put on your walking shoes and go for a walk or don your swimsuit and go for a swim. Do something you like and you are likely to stick at it longer.

Watch your Diet

Dump the junk food and stock the refrigerator with healthy alternatives. Plenty of fresh fruit, vegetables, lean protein and multi-grains will take care of your hunger pangs and is good for your health. Drink plenty of fluids to flush out toxins from the body.

Stay Mentally Alert

Solve a crossword a Sudoku puzzle. Join a chess or a scrabble club. Mental activity stimulates the brain and helps prevent the onset of several age-related conditions such as Alzheimer’s.

Stop Smoking

If you smoke- stop today. Every single cigarette you smoke causes damage to your heart. Giving up smoking overnight may be one of the most difficult things you do. Get the support you need from family and friends and throw that last pack of cigarettes.

Get enough sleep

Computers and TVs are designed to keep us awake 24 hours. Switch it off and go to sleep. You need a minimum of 8 hours sleep to stay healthy and refreshed.

These are easy habits that anyone can start - start them yourself, and you’ll be on your way to having a healthy lifestyle!

Another thing you can do is use ionized/alkaline water. The typical american diet has led our bodies into an acid state and using alkaline water can diminish the over-acidifying diets many of americans are on.
